Usually cool but last time they had me pay a fee at their ATM before telling me they were out of meat a hour n half before close. In this day and age not accepting any plastic payment is crazy but not telling customers before they pay the fee your out of meat is just irresponsible. That's over 3/4 the menu. The old bread on donner is back w new spice very good when available

You can never go wrong with a gyro! When you consider the value (almost never over $6, anywhere), the size, and the flavor, this Greek lamb/beef pita sandwich is always a winner. Unfortunately, in the case of Soulard Gyro & Deli, I have found that the meat is usually dry compared to most of the local gyro haunts and lacks flavor. While it doesn't compare to most, it's still a good option for cheap eats.

It's quick, it's well priced, you get a ton of food, and it's freakin delicious. Quick Tips: Cash Only, and the baklava is out-freakin-standing. I won't waste your time with anything else, this is a weekly lunch spot for my co-workers and I for a reason - it should be yours too.

My friend has been searching St. Louis for a good doner kebab for over 1.3 years. Welp Soulard Gyro & Deli delivered one of the best doner kebabs I have ever had. It is a hole-in-the-wall where the son takes the orders and the mom makes the kebabs. She packs them with meat and veggies and then smothers them with the secret cucumber sauce. Depending on how hungry you look she might even give you some extra meat. Don't worry about fitting the whole doner kebab in your mouth because there is no way that is happening. The best part is when sonny rings you up and the register shows a little over $6 for a doner kebab. THAT IS VALUE!

Wow! I knew I didn't want to cook but definitely didn't want your typical fast food either so I did a quick search & discovered there was a gyro joint within a mile! Much to my delight, the young man behind the counter was very friendly & more than happy to discuss the menu with me. I had the gyro salad & it was scrumptious! It had crisp lettuce and bell peppers, juicy meat & plenty of feta cheese as well as hot pita bread on the side. I got the husband the donner which was equally good. We will definitely be going back for 2nds!

Really good gyros. Only problem is they're cash only.

Great place to eat gyro if you are wanting a very filling gyro at a modest price of around $6 to $6.50 Two brothers run this place and they are quiet generous with their meat. sorry vegetarians, no felafels. I was disappointed about this as well. For dessert, I tried their baklava and tiramisu. Baklava is excellent. the mother of the two brothers makes them at home. Tiramisu was decent butttt missed my vote with too much mascarpone cheese and not enough coffee and rum flavor. Overall, college student heaven. Only takes cash and open till 7pm. call before you head over.

For the money the best Gyro in St. Louis. It is $5.50 or so for a Gyro with Feta. That is about $3 cheaper than Olympia! The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars is that the water glass they give you is the size of that glass they gave you in kindergarten with that medicated mouthwash they made you rinse with and spit. Why could they not give you a regular size glass? It is big enough for about 2 swallows of water! Com'n guys! Maybe I should start brining m own glasses. Hell I'll bring a whole arm load and sell them for .50 a piece to all the customers in there. I'm sure folks woudl rather pay .50 for a regualr size glass than get up 4 or 6 times in there meal to get a sip of water. They might as well just have a water fountain on the side and give no glasses at all.

I came to this place about mid afternoon the other day and to say that I was starving is an understatement. I came through the door fangs bared and frothing at mouth from hunger. I wanted something to fill the void and was in no mood for the standard overpriced burger, wings, fries etc that passes as the quick fix in Soulard. I remembered these guys had opened not long ago. Being the unapologetic carnivore I walked right up to the counter and asked, " which one of your Gyros is loaded with the most meat?" After staring at me for a second and then laughing the counter jockey said: "That would be The Doner Kabob and you're in luck as the baker made the flatbread a little bigger than usual today. How much? $5.75. Ya sold me pal, give me one! Now your buddy Ace is always on the look out for the killer deal and this was starting to really smell like one. They filled my order and had me out the door in less than 10 minutes. When I unwrapped this thing the only thing I could say was "WOW!". As stated previously, I was REAL hungry, but I was wondering if I could finish this double fister. The bread that it was on was very fresh and huge. There was just enough Tzatziki sauce which was creamy and seasoned just right as not to overpower the other great stuff that packed this monster: a big layer of meat with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and Feta cheese piled on it. This thing was so good that I had no problem killing it in one sitting. Also, knowing that I got it at such a great price made it all that more satisfying. So, if you at that end of Russell doing a Soulard pub crawl and looking to score a quick and filling meal or just looking for something somewhat healthy to scarf down for a solid drinking base before the Suds a Thon at a GREAT price, then these guys are definitely an option worth exploring I gave them 4 stars as they close at 7pm, so at the expense of maybe being called jackass or a horse's keester by some reviewers, they might want to reconsider their hours especially on weekends. Other than that, as Macarthur said, " I shall return"

In terms of making good doner kebaps / gyros, this place does most things wrong: the meat usually isn't served freshly sliced (with the crispy bits) off of the spit, they microwave the bread / pita instead of toasting it (making it kind of chewy), and their vegetables are pretty lackluster (I would describe the usual color of their tomatoes as "off-white"). Even so, they are really tasty. I think it's the super-garlicky tzatziki.
